[Today: When your football team breaks your heart, laughter and beer are the best medicines...]
Like Spinal Tap drummer Eric “Stumpy Joe” Childs, my Oregon Ducks have choked on their own vomit.
Or perhaps it was somebody else’s vomit.
We’ll never know for sure, because you can’t really dust for vomit.
Last night Oregon’s second-ranked football team lost to Arizona 34-24.
Arizona was 4-6 entering the game, and hasn’t qualified for a bowl since Democrats were shagging interns in the White House.
Before the loss, the Ducks were 8-1 and positioned to play in the BCS championship game.
Coming into the game, Oregon quarterback Dennis Dixon was the Heisman Trophy front-runner.
Midway through the first quarter, Dixon injured his knee, and is probably out for the rest of the season.
His Heisman hopes are now gone.
Without Dixon, the Ducks are a long shot to even make the Rose Bowl.
If Michigan beats Ohio St. this Saturday, they’ll represent the Big Ten in the Rose Bowl.
Oregon eviscerated Michigan in the second game of the season.
I love this game.
Now if you’ll excuse me, it’s time to get stinking drunk…

Dixon is scheduled for surgery and slated to miss the rest of the season, at least according to espn about an hour ago.
Sorry Liam. I mean Ian.
